  1. Please post this on the other blogs, I did not care to register.
Here is a blog thread over in the Owens Valley that explores unexpected damage caused by water displacement.

I really feel for your community, water removal is disaterous for the environment. The answers to the problems are recycling grey water, conservation and local residential capture. Check out the thread and see how the facts are ignored.

  2. The Eastern Sierra Museum in Owens Valley has a newspaper on display which shows a family whose Father killed himself because of a failing ranch due to no water, abandon schools, lost ranches, closed business',etc, the result of loosing your water will be ruin for your community. Call them and get a copy for your next protest or meeting.

Get a copy of the paper so you can see what is coming.

  3. Snake Valley watershed is about water sustainability and aquifer replenishment
The results of over pumping are disastrous, look at this USGS link about land subsidence.
    It is truly amazing.

    From the USGS Groundwater site.

Excessive pumping can overdraw the groundwater “bank account”
The water stored in the ground can be compared to money kept in a bank account. If you withdraw money at a faster rate than you deposit new money you will eventually start having account-supply problems. Pumping water out of the ground faster than it is replenished over the long-term cause’s similar problems. The volume of groundwater in storage is decreasing in many areas of the United States in response to pumping. Groundwater depletion is primarily caused by sustained groundwater pumping. Some of the negative effects of groundwater depletion:
    • drying up of wells
    • reduction of water in streams and lakes
    • deterioration of water quality
    • increased pumping costs
    • land subsidence
    • salt water intrusion
